## What is it?

The ComfyUI desktop app keeps its models in `~/Documents/ComfyUI/models`, in subfolders by type: checkpoints, LoRAs, VAEs, text encoders, upscalers and more. Image and video models are large, typically 2–25 GB each, so this folder often reaches hundreds of GB.

## What happens if you delete it?

Not automatically. Models from public sources can be downloaded again by hand, but some come from pages that have since been removed or changed, and your workflows break until each missing file is back in place.

## How to remove it properly

Quit ComfyUI, then move individual model files you no longer use to the Trash. To keep them without using space on the Mac, move them to an external drive and point ComfyUI to that location with its `extra_model_paths.yaml` settings.

## Before you delete it

LoRAs and fine-tunes you trained yourself exist only here unless you backed them up.
