## What is it?

Ollama runs large language models locally and stores them in `~/.ollama/models`, as shared layers (`blobs`) and per-model lists (`manifests`). Each model is typically a few GB to tens of GB, depending on size and quantisation.

## What happens if you delete it?

A removed model is downloaded again with `ollama pull <model>` or the next time you run it, which can take a while on a slow connection. Custom models you created with a Modelfile need to be created again.

## How to remove it properly

Run `ollama list` to see installed models and `ollama rm <model>` to delete one, permanently. Removing models through Ollama keeps shared layers consistent; deleting single files inside `blobs` by hand can break other models.

## Before you delete it

Models you imported or built yourself with `ollama create` may not be downloadable again; keep their source files.
