## What is it?

Modern Yarn (version 2 and later, “Berry”) keeps a global mirror of package archives in `~/.yarn/berry/cache`, shared by all projects. Projects that do not commit their own cache copy packages from here when installing.

## What happens if you delete it?

Yarn downloads packages again into the mirror on the next `yarn install`. A project’s own `.yarn/cache` folder, used for zero-installs, is separate and unaffected.

## How to remove it properly

Run `yarn cache clean --mirror` inside any Yarn 2+ project to empty the global mirror with Yarn’s own command, or move `~/.yarn/berry/cache` to the Trash.
