# Reset MoreRoom, or uninstall it completely

## In short

- If you use Pro, click Deactivate This Mac in Settings › Licence first, and turn off Open at login.
- Quit MoreRoom and drag it from Applications to the Trash. Then delete its few files: ~/Library/Application Support/MoreRoom, its preferences (app.moreroom.mac) and ~/Library/Group Containers/6DP89DUYBU.app.moreroom.shared.
- To only reset MoreRoom, delete those files but keep the app: it starts again with the welcome screen. History of past removals is lost, but items stay in the Trash.

## How to uninstall MoreRoom completely

1. **Prepare.** In MoreRoom › Settings…, click Licence › Deactivate This Mac if you use Pro, and turn off Open at login, in the menu bar in the General tab. Wake up any project you hibernated.
2. **Quit and remove the app.** Quit MoreRoom (⌘Q). In Finder, drag MoreRoom from Applications to the Trash.
3. **Remove its data.** In Finder, choose Go › Go to Folder… (⇧⌘G) and delete each folder or file listed below, if it exists.
4. **Remove its preferences.** In Terminal, run: defaults delete app.moreroom.mac
5. **Clean up permissions.** In System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, select MoreRoom and click –. Then empty the Trash.

## Before you start

- **Pro**: open **MoreRoom › Settings… › Licence** and click **Deactivate This Mac**, so you can use your licence on another Mac.
- **Open at login**: turn off **Open at login, in the menu bar** in **Settings › General**.
- **Hibernated projects**: click **Wake Up** on them in **Projects** first if you want MoreRoom to reinstall their dependencies. Otherwise their small `.moreroom-hibernation.json` file is harmless, and you can delete it.

`~` is your home folder. To open these places, choose **Go › Go to Folder…** in Finder (`⇧⌘G`) and paste the path.

MoreRoom installs nothing else: no helper tool, no system extension, no kernel extension.

## Uninstall step by step

1. Do the steps in **Before you start**, then quit MoreRoom (`⌘Q`).
2. Drag **MoreRoom** from Applications to the Trash.
3. Delete the folders listed above that exist.
4. Open Terminal and run `defaults delete app.moreroom.mac` to remove the settings.
5. Optional: open **Keychain Access**, search for `app.moreroom` and delete the two items.
6. Remove MoreRoom from **Full Disk Access** with the **–** button.
7. Empty the Trash.

## Reset MoreRoom without uninstalling

To start from scratch — welcome screen, default settings — quit MoreRoom, then delete `~/Library/Application Support/MoreRoom` and the widget data, and run `defaults delete app.moreroom.mac`. Keep the app and your Keychain items: Pro stays active.

Resetting forgets your **History**: past removals can no longer be restored from MoreRoom, but anything still in the Trash can be put back with Finder’s **Put Back**.

## Reinstall later

[Download MoreRoom](https://moreroom.app/download) again at any time. If you used Pro, activate your key again — a Mac you deactivated is free to be activated again.
