The short answer
Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.
What is it?
Crash, hang and resource reports macOS writes for system processes and apps, stored in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports (your own account’s reports are in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports). Usually small, but repeated crashes can add up.
What happens if you delete it?
New reports appear only when something crashes or hangs again. Old reports are only useful for troubleshooting or sending to a developer.
How to remove it properly
If you are troubleshooting, view them first in Console under Crash Reports. Then move reports older than about a month to the Trash in Finder (Go › Go to Folder…); this folder needs an administrator password.
Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.
- MoreRoom only suggests items unused for 30 days or more.
How MoreRoom helps
MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
