The short answer

Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.

What is it?

Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition and Media Encoder store conformed audio (.cfa) and waveform peak (.pek) files here so imported media plays and scrubs smoothly. The folder grows with every project and is rarely cleaned on its own; tens of GB is common for video editors.

Conformed audio and peak files from Premiere Pro and After Effects. Rebuilt when media is opened again.

What happens if you delete it?

Adobe apps rebuild these files the next time you open media that needs them. Expect extra processing and briefly missing waveforms when a project reopens; no project or source media is lost.

How to remove it properly

In Premiere Pro, choose Premiere Pro › Settings › Media Cache and click Delete next to Remove Media Cache Files, then choose unused or all files. Or quit every Adobe app and move ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Media Cache Files to the Trash.

Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
