The short answer

No. Your data. Shrink it from its app; don’t delete the folder.

What is it?

~/Library/CloudStorage holds one folder per cloud provider that uses macOS’s File Provider system, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and Box. Files can be online-only placeholders or downloaded copies; only downloaded ones take space.

Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and others. Make files online-only; they stay in the cloud.

What happens if you delete it?

Deleting files here deletes them from the cloud and your other devices. Freeing the local copy keeps them online, and they download again when opened.

How to remove it properly

Never delete these folders. In Finder, right-click files or folders and choose Remove Download, or the provider’s own Make online-only or Free up space command. Most providers also have a setting to keep new files online-only, such as Google Drive’s streaming mode.

From the app itself: Finder: right-click files or folders > Remove Download (or the provider's 'Make online-only').

Before you delete it

Files that have not finished uploading cannot be freed: check the sync status icons first.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this as your data and never suggests deleting it. It shows how much space it takes, so you can shrink it from its own app.
