The short answer

Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.

What is it?

Expo creates a .expo folder in each project (next to app.json or app.config.js/.ts) for local settings: device lists, development server information and generated types. It is machine-specific and not meant to be committed. Usually small.

What happens if you delete it?

Expo recreates it the next time you run npx expo start. Nothing important is lost; you may need to pick your device again.

How to remove it properly

Stop the Expo dev server, then move the .expo folder to the Trash in Finder.

Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
