The short answer

Yes. Rebuilt or re-downloaded automatically when needed.

What is it?

Gradle writes compiled classes, packaged apps, intermediate files and test reports to a build folder next to each module’s build.gradle or build.gradle.kts, for example app/build in an Android project. Only folders in projects untouched for 30 days are considered. Android builds often take several GB.

What happens if you delete it?

The next build recompiles everything, which can take several minutes. Your sources and Gradle configuration are not affected.

How to remove it properly

Run ./gradlew clean in the project, which deletes the build folders permanently, or move them to the Trash in Finder.

Quit the app that uses it, then move it to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you’re sure.

  • MoreRoom only suggests items unused for 30 days or more.

Before you delete it

Copy any signed release APKs or bundles you want to keep out of build/outputs first.

How MoreRoom helps

MoreRoom recognises this item, shows its real size and when it was last used, and labels it “Safe to remove”. In the free version you can move it to the Trash in one click, with Undo; Pro collects every safe item at once.
