Use Pro on up to 3 Macs, and move it to a new Mac

How many Macs one licence covers, how to deactivate a Mac you no longer use, and what to do when a new Mac says the maximum is reached.

In short

  • One Pro licence works on up to 3 Macs that you use. Activate the same key on each of them.
  • To move Pro to a new Mac, open Settings › Licence on the old one and click Deactivate This Mac, then activate your key on the new Mac.
  • Old Mac gone, or the new one says the maximum is reached? Contact us with your purchase email and we’ll free a place.

How to move Pro to a new Mac

  1. On the old Mac, deactivate Open MoreRoom › Settings… › Licence and click Deactivate This Mac. The plan changes to Free on that Mac.
  2. On the new Mac, install MoreRoom Download MoreRoom from moreroom.app/download and install it. If you used Migration Assistant, it’s already there, but on Free.
  3. Activate your key Open Settings › Licence › Enter Licence Key…, paste your key and click Activate.

How many Macs?

A Pro licence — Yearly or Lifetime — can be active on up to 3 Macs used by you. Activate the same key on each one; Settings › Licence shows the plan and the name of This Mac.

Reinstalling MoreRoom or macOS on the same Mac doesn’t use another place: MoreRoom recognises the Mac.

Deactivate a Mac

On a Mac you’re giving away, selling or no longer using:

  1. Open MoreRoom › Settings… (⌘,) and click Licence.
  2. Click Deactivate This Mac.

Pro is removed from this Mac at once — it goes back to Free — and MoreRoom asks our server to free its place. Nothing else changes on the Mac.

Moving to a new Mac

  • Migration Assistant copies MoreRoom to your new Mac, but not its activation: the new Mac starts on Free. Activate your key there.
  • If the new Mac says This licence is already used on the maximum number of Macs, deactivate one of the others. If you can’t — the old Mac was sold, wiped or broken — contact us from your purchase email, with the name of the Mac to remove, and we’ll free its place.
